I am a native Georgian born and raised in Cordele, and have lived in LaGrange for the last 20 years. I have always appreciated beauty that surrounds me, and it was after my two children were grown that I discovered my love of painting. Visual artists run in my family; I join my grandmother, mother and aunt as artists who also began painting as empty nesters.
Painting has made me look at everything around me through different eyes; colors, shapes, shadows, space and light have all taken on new meaning. The wonders of creation inspire me; and art allows me to convey the feelings of excitement and pleasure I get from nature. I visually explore what touches and moves me whether it is a serene beach, daylilies in my garden, or a country lane.
I have participated in numerous classes and workshops that have developed my impressionistic style and use of color. Some artists I have studied under include Jo Ann Williams Walker, Guido Frick, Perry Austin, Bill Davidson, and most recently James Richards. Every day is a new and exciting adventure on my artistic journey of creative discovery.
